Sending Postcard and Snail Mail; Revisiting Old Hobbies

The thought that in a few months after all the painful hours I spent at work each day I’d be somewhere traveling for a few days is one of the things that keeps me going everyday. But due to the Covid-19 pandemic many plans got cancelled; now I’m even taking a month off of work. I guess what I need right now is pretty much something keep me occupied, or at least something fun to do during this stay-at-home period, just like everyone else on Instagram who seemed so busy doing their hobbies or learning new skills. And all this eventually led me to revisit an old hobby; sending postcard and snail mail. I know I still have to go out to the post office to send them but it’s only 500 meters from my house.

It’s been some time since the last time I sent postcard and I rarely did the direct swap either. I pretty much didn’t stock up on the postcards to actually start sending one again, so I decided to make one with some photos taken by yours truly and Febri using our analog cameras & mirrorless. Yayy! Another stuff to keep me occupied, plus..our photos don’t only end up on the gram.

To keep the postcards and other stuffs for snail mailing, I provide 2 boxes; one for the postcards (blank and incomings), snail mails, & handmade envelopes, while the other one is used to keep stamp supplies, washi tapes, image cutouts and whatnot. I know it’s not really much but it makes me easier to organise them rather than to put them in the same box.

Besides sending the postcards for postcrossing, I also sent them to people who wanted it on Twitter. Febri and I tweeted on each of our account to offer it and they only had to send their mailing address to us.

In total I sent around 23 postcards on May; 5 for postcrossing, 13 for people on Twitter, 3 for our friends, and 2 for people who asked for direct swap. In additon, I also send 1 snail mail to Turkey. I spent more or less two nights to write & decorate the postcards cause I didn’t just send them; I had to look at the pictures and decided who would like it the most. I’m glad that some people already told us that they had received the postcard.

Anyway if you’re interested to swap your postcard with mine please let me know. Or if you want to send yours to me that would be great :3

You can see my postcards on my other instagram account created specially for postcard & snail mail thingy @kartuposnadya β™‘β™‘

P.s: wow it’s been two years since the last time I wrote a blog post in English. I kinda miss it.

  1. I don’t believe if you have a lot of blank postcards! Dan kamu bikin amplopnya sendiri? Keren. Ya ampun kapan tanganku mau diajak kreatif kayak gini sih? Hahaha.

Eh tapi ngirim postcard pake amplop juga ya Nad? Kukirain enggak wkwk.

    • Aww thank you mba ayu!!

Aaaww terimakasih lagiii Mbaaa Ayu 🧑🧑🧑. Hehehe

*males googling, hehe

hmm…dua tahun ga ngepost dalam full bhs inggris?knp tuh? kenapa selama dua tahun itu nulis pake bhs indonesia aja dan knp sekarang tiba-tiba nulis fully english lagi?

    maaf ya banyak nanya, hahaha….

    • Sesungguhnya masih banyak loh yang hobby ngirim postcard. Bahkan ada website namanya postcrossing dmn km bs send&receive postcard secara random from people around the world.

      Hahahah gapapaaaaa atuh

  4. You guys are awesome! It takes commitment to prepare the postcards and mails (two nights, you said?). πŸ˜€

I love sending postcards too, but rarely being sent one. I got less than 10 postcards so far and haven’t thought of arranging it into a box. But it sounds like a brilliant idea! πŸ™‚

    • Thank youuu mas. Iyaaa I took me two nights to finally finish writing & decorating all the postcards; Karena ternyata nyalin 16an alamat itu cukup lama dan bikin pegel. Decorating postcards apparently juga takes time walaupun I made it quite simple.

Mau tak kirimin po mas? Aku masih punya stock cukup banyak πŸ˜€ incoming poscardku juga not so much, perhaps less than 30 karena aku jg lebih sering ngirim drpada dikirimin 😦 but I’d still like to keep it in a box daripada berceceran dan rusak cause it’s so precious for me πŸ˜…

      • Hehehe… Mesti cermat banget juga itu, Nad. πŸ˜€ Kalau nulis di kartu pos ini suka deg-degan, takut-takut salah ketinggalan satu huruf. πŸ˜€ Belum lagi mesti diangin-anginin supaya tintanya nggak belepotan. πŸ˜€

Wah, menarik itu. Nanti deh saling berkirim kita, kalau sudah nggak ragu-ragu lagi buat keluar. Saling kirimnya yang seru soalnya. πŸ˜€

Koleksimu bakalan berharga banget nanti, Nad.

Aku dulu beberapa kali pernah gasengaja kena tanganku sendiri terus jd kotor gitu kartunya.

Km sering jalannjalan pasti banyak bgt koleksinya ya mas? πŸ˜€ hehehe kalau misal mau dikirimin (dan ngirim juga πŸ˜…) kabarin lagi aja ya mas..

        • Hahaha. Ngeselin banget itu Nad kalau udah konsentrasi nulis terus tiba-tiba tintanya ambyar. πŸ˜€

Sip! Nanti tak kabarin, Nad. Pasti seru. πŸ™‚ Tapi bakal lumayan lama ini kayaknya sebelum dunia membuka diri lagi. πŸ˜€
